Las Vegas Vacation
Andy and I took a short trip to Las Vegas this past week, and we had a great time. We stayed at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino, and though at first were not happy it was at the very end of the Strip, we soon learned that means our hotel and casino get a lot less traffic, which is a good thing when you are looking to play $5 craps! We saw two shows, Zumanity (which is a Cirque du Soleil show) and Phantom of the Opera. Both were fabulous in their own way, though I think if we were to see one again, it would be Phantom, and then see a different Cirque show (since every single hotel just about has one specifically designed for them). We did tons of walking, quite a bit of taking it all in and a little gambling. We met some very nice people from Lindsay, Texas at the craps table, where we played with them for four hours. We also each got a tattoo from the famous Starlight Tattoo Parlor started by Mario Barth, which happened to be on the casino level of our hotel. We had brunch at the world-renowned Bellagio Buffet, which we thought was overrated, and dinner at Smith & Wollensky (which we were glad of since they closed the one here in Dallas). Mandalay Bay also boasts a huge pool/beach area, though we never did make it out there. We also never made it past the Venetian hotel to the other end of the Strip. At least we left something for next time! Here are some pictures from the trip:
